12/24/2023 0 Comments Onyx boox note airI feel RM is the opposite, in this regard. They have so many features, I hope they switch focus to that. In time, I hope they make the GUI slicker. Totally, I wish the Max Lumi was as good. For the NA2+, I ended up having to switch auto shut down off and now I am happy with the "recall" for want of a better term. This may not relate to your experience, of course.įor my Max Lumi, I have auto shut down after 8hrs, and I like that. I didn't have this experience with my Max Lumi 2, but the NA2+ looked disappointingly poor until I realised. I found this too, and realised that the Speed Mode was being used in places I did not expect. It will turn into a pain in the backside alright! I don't think Voja realised this as I know he was critical of the flap. I have ended up liking the NA2+ magnetic case more after realising the flap actually flips backwards and snaps to the case, making for a neater and flatter writing experience on the table. So much so that I actually can use the much thinner Samsung S6 lite pen, which I could never do with the RM2. The NA2+ magnetic case, with its flap, holds onto the pen very tightly during transport. My issue with the RM2 is that despite the pen magnets' very strong and solid feel, the pen was liable to fall off. The strength or quality of the pen magnets initially annoyed me, until I realised how well designed the magnetic case is for the NA2. Referring to your points here are my observations: As of last week, I took delivery of a Note Air 2+ as I had enough of what I interpret to be a clumsy experience with the RM when it came to syncing files. Obviously a case with a cut where the charging port and the buttons are needs to be ordered (Fintie, I am looking at you if I keep this), but the manufacturer did not do it (am I missing the case by Onyx with cutouts?) On RM2 there is no magnetic cover to wake up/put to sleep, but pushing the top power button isn't hard, nor cumbersome. Since the power button is oddly placed maybe the magnetic case should be avoided so that you don't spend searching for the button all the time, if you need it. RM2 nailed my wants OOB in terms of screen refresh/contrast/font size and contrast and rendering, etc, whereas on the NA2+ I had to fiddle a bit to get it to my liking, making me actually feeling old and less flexible. I will have to confirm what Voja mentioned - that the Onyx UI system is full of a myriad of options. Buuuut given the other subjective user-experience related cons it's bitter-sweet. Well, the tablet functionality of Android. So far it is quite refreshing to get more reader functionality out of the box, the interactive memo/calendar. The many things the UI is trying to achieve and actually can do (EInkCenter for instance) I guess I have to keep tinkering with the setting of sleep. Perhaps I have too sensitive sight of the curves that are rather un-contiguous?īooting really takes a while and it is more frequent. My old Sony PRS-T1 did not give this vibe. The rendering of system fonts - they are not as smooth, especially in the UI. The placement of the start button and charging port are negatives, but it's a known "feature" of the series, but it really is a nag and seems cumbersome. For this a case with pen holder is required to reach the RM2 magnets strength. The magnets that are for the pen are much better thought out on the RM2 tablet itself, and with its folio case this somehow the RM2 gives a better whole-package hardware focus impression from the way the pen is nested, while the NA seems rather flimsy by comparison (and to think Voja mentions that the NA2+ is the better of all Boox Notes in this regard.). There is much less stability to the pen when nested - only one magnet in the middle of the pen? What were they thinking - it seems for me just a tad over symbolic attachment. How the Pen is nested, and it's magnets - it's just an inferior design/plan. My nitpicking (OCD?) after 1 hour with the Boox Note Air 2 Plus so far are: Besides the regular functions I am using only ddvk. RM2 Disclosure: my experience has been flawless (except a needed pen replacement - that was a bit of a hassle but it went well.). I've had it for a half a day, and I am now very tempted to resell it on the second hand market.I've posted some of these on the Boox sub. I have just caved in to the temptation, because I couldn't get it anywhere else to test. please don't really be, and have some salt for that hype. TLDR: If you loved the RM2 almost to OCD levels of detail and were ok, but you're now tempted by the Onyx Boox Note Air 2 Plus hype fro m YT reviewers and others.
